The Taste of Hawaii…Delivered To Your Home

May 13, 2020

While we’re all practicing social and physical distancing, we’re counting down the days to a nice, relaxing warm vacation. If you’re missing Hawaii, there are several small businesses you can support during this time to bring the taste of aloha home.

House of Mana Up – Shop local products all made by Hawaii makers and artisans – from food, fashion, home, beauty and art products. Choose from more than 1,000 crafted items and send a care-package or get something for yourself (to get your temp Hawaii fix). Order here!

Mānoa Chocolate – The bean-to-bar chocolate maker creates the most delicious craft chocolate products, taking fine cacao beans and turning them into chocolate (which is different from a Chocolatier – where they buy finished chocolate and remelt it to make their recipes). They recently launched their “Flavor of Hawaiʻi” series to support during this time, featuring three new flavors: banana, coconut and lilikoʻi (passion fruit). Order some for yourself and send a gift to someone you miss! PS. Hawaii is the only state in the U.S. that can grow cacao commercially due to our tropical climate.

Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery – MALASADAS, MALASADAS! Treat yourself and enjoy Hawaii’s favorite local desserts and treats in a wide variety of homemade goodies freshly delivered right to your doorsteps. Ships nationwide – order online here!

Snack Addicted – Add this to your quarantine snack pile! Owner Davin Fukumoto created his brand of thin and crispy beef jerky as a thank-you gift to his massage therapist, who had helped him through a back injury. The therapist was preparing for a bodybuilding competition and craved chips, but his restrictive diet wouldn’t allow them. Fukumoto made his first batch of beef jerky for him and, after a few adjustments (eliminating sugar, thinly slicing the beef), came up with a super thin, chiplike jerky that he started producing commercially. Fukumoto churned out another batch of beef jerky and donated all of it to local hospitals because, as he put it, “it was the right thing to do.” (Hawaii Magazine) Order your bags here!
