If you’re visiting Oahu this month for the holidays there are a lot of events happening on the island to choose from! The island gets festive, with Santa switching out the red suit for Hawaiian shirt, making sandmen rather than snowmen and decorating palm trees instead of Christmas trees! 

Here are some activities to check out, including the famous surfing annual competitions in the North Shore!

Vans Triple Crown of Surfing – December 3-20, 2019 – The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (VTCS) is one of the longest running professional surfing series that ultimately determines the best athlete of the North Shore’s winter surf season, along with the World Surf League (WSL) Champion, event winners and a VTCS rookie.

 

“Winter Wishes – A Holiday Festival” – December 3-24, 2019 – The Hawaii Convention Center will offer guests more reasons to celebrate the holiday season with a new festival and ice skating rink. The Center’s 56,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall space will be transformed into a month-long “Winter Wishes – A Holiday Festival”  will offer a full lineup of activities for the entire family, including an opening celebration with tree-lighting ceremony and special guest Kristi Yamaguchi.

 

Royal Hawaiian Center Home To Santa’s Hale For The Holidays – December 6- 20, 2019 – Santa’s Hale is popping up at Royal Hawaiian Center to bring good tidings in the heart of Waikiki with keiki holiday activities, visits with Santa Marty, and an opportunity for kids to pen and send letters to the North Pole with Santa’s Mailbox.

 

35th Annual Honolulu City Lights – December 07, 2019 – January 01, 2020 – Downtown Honolulu will soon be aglow as the 35th annual Honolulu City Lights goes bright!

 

47th Annual Honolulu Marathon – December 08, 2019 – The Honolulu Marathon’s scenic course includes spectacular ocean views alongside world-famous Waikiki Beach, and Diamond Head and Koko Head volcanic craters.

 

Billabong Pipe Masters – December 8-20, 2019 – The Billabong Pipe Masters is the most charged event of the year as the season conclusion to the World Surf League elite tour. It determines the most anticipated and highest regarded titles known to professional surfing: The World Champion, Vans Triple Crown Champion and Billabong Pipe Masters event winner, and it all ensues at Mecca – the North Shore of Oahu and Banzai Pipeline.

 

New Year’s Eve Disco Party – December 31, 2019 – Start off New Year’s Eve with the Music of ABBA and Your Hawaii Symphony Orchestra at Historic Hawaii Theatre! Perhaps a night of ABBA music is the ultimate “guilty pleasure” for us all.
