Discovering Oahu’s Enchanting Christmas Lights & Tree Lighting Ceremonies

As the holiday season approaches, Oahu transforms into a twinkling paradise of festive lights and heartwarming celebrations. One of the best ways to experience the magic of an island Christmas is by embarking on a journey through our charming towns. Explore some of Shoreline Waikikiʻs Staffs favorite towns on Oahu for Christmas lights and tree lighting ceremonies!

Honolulu – December 2, 2023 City Lights Spectacular: The city comes alive with the annual Honolulu City Lights celebration. The iconic Honolulu Hale (City Hall) is adorned with dazzling lights, and the Christmas parade is one of our favorite traditions.

4 p.m. to 10 p.m. — City Lights Block Party on Punchbowl Street and across the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds

6 p.m. — Tree Lighting Ceremony at Honolulu Hale and Public Workers’ Electric Light Parade from Aala Park to Honolulu Hale

7 p.m. to 10 p.m. — City and County of Honolulu Employee Christmas Tree Exhibition in the Honolulu Hale Courtyard

7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. — Photo with Santa (located inside Mission Memorial Auditorium

Haleiwa: December 9th, 2023 North Shore Wonderland: Head to the laid-back town of Haleiwa on Oahu’s North Shore for a more relaxed and intimate Christmas experience. The charming boutiques and surf shops along the main street are adorned with holiday lights, creating a picturesque scene. Check out the North Shore Surf & Cultural Museum for a unique blend of local culture and festive decorations. Location: Parade starts at Weed Circle and ends at Haleiwa Park. Bride lighting is at Anahulu Bridge. Starts 6:00 pm-8:00pm.

Kapolei – West Side Wonderland:Explore Oahu’s burgeoning town of Kapolei on the west side, where Christmas lights add a touch of magic to this growing community. The Kapolei City Lights celebration is a highlight, featuring this year’s theme of “A Westside Wonderland” with decorations inspired by historic, cultural, and recreational aspects of our Leeward communities, from Waipahū to Kaʻena Point, All are invited to come and experience this free city events and decorations. Come take a walk in the country this holiday season and enjoy “A Westside Wonderland.” Kapolei City Lights are held at Kapolei Hale at 1000 Ulu’ōhia Street. Open to the public December 9th, 2023 to January 2, 2024.

Aloha Land Drive Through: November 30th – December 30th Mele Kalikimaka! Step into the holiday spirit with the enchanting Aloha Land Christmas Drive-Through at the iconic Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. This festive journey promises a unique blend of Hawaiian warmth and Christmas magic. Featuring a wonderland of fun and activities, including the ever popular holiday drive through light show! All proceeds will benefit the S.A.C. Foundation (Show Aloha Challenge).

Loop through the lights, frolic on foot, or cruise along – The route is adorned with dazzling lights, festive decor, and joyful scenes that capture the essence of the holidays with a touch of Hawaiian flair.

Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit with: A classic drive-thru adventure, Original Show Aloha Land, The whimsical Xavier Express Train and the enchanting Tunnel of Joy, The snowy splendor of Blitzen’s Snow Paradise and bubbling delights of Vixen’s Bubble Zone, High-flying escapades on Comet’s Zipline and jovial jumps in Rudolph’s Bouncer Land, A new frosty thrill – Snow Tubing right here in Hawaii and Starlit meals and magical moments captured with Santa himself.

The Hawaii Kai Boat Parade is one of our favorite Holiday light shows on Oahu, also known as the. “Festival of Lights,” boat parade. The Marina transforms into a mesmerizing spectacle of lights and comes alive with a kaleidoscope of colors. Each boat adorned with twinkling lights, festive decorations, and holiday cheer, creates a magical panorama that captures the spirit of the holiday season. Enjoy music, entertainment, and cheer on your favorite boat as they light up the Marina. The boat parade begins at Hawaii Kai Marina at 5:30pm.
